League of Friends


The League of Friends was formed in 1990
A Group of patients wishing to show gratitude for treatment received at the Eye Infirmary, decided to raise money to provide extra equipment to benefit patients and help staff.

Over the years a much valued partnership has been built up between the League and the dedicated Consultants,Technologists,Nursing and Administrative staff at the Eye Infirmary.

Equipment Provided Includes


Wheelchairs, Slit lamps, Stryker beds, Ophthalmoscopes, Blood pressure testing equipment, Lasers, Keratometer, Fundus Camera for imaging children’s eyes, Phaco Machine, Special eye test charts, Benches and plants for garden, Visual Field testing machines, Pre-Op Examination couch, Equipment and Instruments for Corneal Graft Surgery, Update of Cataract Surgery equipment, Laser for treating Glaucoma, Slit Lamp and toys for children, Orthoptic clinics, Counter balanced slit lamps for patients in wheel chairs, Cryo-probe for treating retinal problems, Donation to provide a display unit for the eye infirmary section in the Royal Hospital Museum, Televisions for Mary Jones Ward.


We thank everyone who has worked, Contributed and donated to make this possible.
We guarantee that all donations are used for the benefit of Patients, after consultation with Eye infirmary staff and the Consultant in charge of the Eye Infirmary specific extra items of equipment are provided, to enable additional procedures to be available to patients.
